Ste. Anne de Bellevue Rugby Football Club, the Quebec Provincial Cup champions from Montreal, Canada, will be visiting Trinidad and Tobago as guests of Caribs Rugby Football Club. Caribs RFC will be looking forward to getting a head start for their preparations for the 2009 season. In 2008 Caribs RFC were able to win the Toyota Championship League and retain the coveted Bruno Browne Trophy.
Ste. Anne de Bellevue are due to arrive in Trinidad on Wednesday, March 4, 2009. They will play games against Caribs RFC 1st XV, a Caribs President’s XV and a Caribs President’s Women’s XV on Saturday, March 7, 2009 and Wednesday, March 11, 2009. Matches on Saturday will kick off from 2:00 p.m. on President’s Grounds, while on Wednesday both matches will kick off at 4:00 p.m. on Harvard’s and Caribs pitch.
The highly anticipated tour will provide exposure for local players to experience rugby at a different level. The visit by Ste. Anne de Bellevue also profiles Trinidad and Tobago as a rugby tourism destination which augurs well for the country.
